N2  - The authors present a series of qualitative sociological research methods with some potential applications to health promotion. The methods discussed are observation, interviews, conversational analysis, and action research. The aim of the article is to encourage the application of qualitative methods, which are well established in the social sciences, in the development of evidence-based health promotion.<p />
