TY - JOUR PY - 1996// TI - A closed pelvic fracture from wheels-in-line skating JO - Journal of emergency medicine A1 - Mora, M. SP - 711 EP - 713 VL - 14 IS - 6 N2 - Wheels-in-line skating is the fastest growing recreational sport in the United States. An estimated 105,000 in-line skating injuries received treatment in emergency departments in 1995. This article reports an unusual in-line skating injury: a closed pelvic fracture requiring hospitalization. More commonly encountered injuries are also reviewed. Although there is increasing evidence that in-line skating is associated with a significant number of injuries, protective gear remains greatly underused. It is prudent to promote the use of protective gear, which should include a helmet, wrist guards, and knee and elbow protectors. LA - SN - 0736-4679 UR - http://dx.doi.org/ ID - ref1 ER -
