TY - JOUR PY - 2006// TI - Stability or Regularity of the Daily Travel Time in Lyon?: Application of a Duration Model JO - International journal of transport economics A1 - Joly, Iragael SP - 369 EP - 400 VL - 33 IS - 3 N2 - This paper presents an analysis of the duration model – the allocated time for urban travel during one day. Supporting the discussion of Zhavi's hypothesis, the research considers the impacts of covariates on the duration variable, permitting a test of the dependence of daily travel time on elapsed time as experienced in Lyon, France. Results show that the relationships between daily travel times, socio-economic attributes, and duration of activity supports the 'weak version of the individual travel time budget (TTB) stability hypotheses.' Results also show that the non-monotonic estimated hazard – which implies that there is instability associated with the probability of daily transport ending at a specified time – questions the minimization of daily travel times.
