%X Introduction. Mobile phone dependence (nomophobia) has been linked with anxiety, depression and insomnia; a relationship with suicidal ideation is suggested. <br><br>METHODS. 18 to 25 years old university students were included; MMPUS scale for Nomophobia and MMPI-2-RF for suicidal ideation and related elements were used. Statistical analysis by one-way ANOVA, Chi square and Pearson correlation were made. <br><br>RESULTS 66 individuals, 54.1% women; 22.7% with Nomophobia (greater than the 80th percentile); statistical significance (p <0.01) only in the DSM scale (self-distrust) was found. No relation to suicidal ideation was identified. <br><br>CONCLUSION. Our results suggest there is no relationship between nomophobia and suicidal ideation in university students in opposition to previous reports; further studies should include individual with a previous diagnosis of depression. © 2019.<p /><p>Language: es</p>
