%X A study of the sixty-four Louisiana parishes indicated that the per capita spending on lotteries (but not on video poker) and the unemployment rate were associated with changes in the suicide rate from 1989-1990 to 1994-1995. Parishes with higher rates of unemployment and more per capita spending on the lottery had a greater increase in the suicide rate over this period.<p /><p>Language: en</p>
