%X In order to be able to manage road safety effectively, safety needs to be quantified. The paper deals with possibilities of measuring road safety. It shows a number of road safety indicators and compares them on the example of relationship between road section width and safety. The most used indicator is accident rate, its applicability is thus discussed. In conclusion a rough draft of the safety performance function is shown and recommended.<p /> <p>Language: en</p>
