%X Unlike legal workers in the US, illegal alien workers rarely commute on public roads or by public transportation; they travel an extensive network of well-worn routes that don't appear on the Rand-McNally. This article charts 3 journeys of some illegal aliens across the US-Mexico border. The Arizona Farmworkers Union--a small, struggling union dedicated to protecting the rights of "illegal aliens"--estimates that the death toll of farmworkers commuting to work through the 40-mile stretch may be as high as 300 for the last 5 years.

Language: en
