%X This article describes a methodology for safe therapeutic practice developed more than 16 years in the specialist family violence service--Reading Safer Families, UK (Cooper & Vetere, 2005). This article focuses on how a safety methodology developed in a specialist service can be adapted for use in mainstream mental health and therapeutic services, across the life span, when violence is of concern.<p />
