abstract="The year 1932 was uneventful for the American family, aside from the effects of the depression. Economic pressure has decreased family morale, increased tension, and hurt children and youth. Married women working outside the family have especially suffered from economic insecurity. Educational activities, notably of the churches and social agencies, have continued. Family research has not been neglected. The most important contribution along this line has come from the investigation of the Research Committee on Social Trends.<p />",
