abstract="Explores the possibility that the origins of aggressive or outcast behavior in children may lie in reduced psychological capabilities to adapt in social situations where there is a conflict of interest between 2 or more individuals. Some children show a reduced ability to read others' emotions, interpret speech and generally process information in a social situation, which prohibits the formation of adequate response strategies. Uses the concepts of psychological capabilities, social intelligence and cognition, metacognition, knowledge, and know-how in explaining the children's behavior and ability to adapt in social situations.
