abstract="People who are incarcerated have high rates of mental illness, substance use disorder, suicide attempts, and chronic medical conditions. Mortality rates are also significantly elevated following release. Additional work needs to be done to understand the risk factors for increased morbidity and mortality of people impacted by incarceration to better inform future interventions and system changes.
