abstract="In 2015 the federal German parliament passed a law which forbade Facilitating suicide as recurring pursuit. In 2020 the Federal Constitutional Court declared that this law is unconstitutional and void. Since then, there is ongoing debate on this topic. The article presents an interdisciplinary perspective from law, psychotherapy/psychology, and psychiatry with a focus on the situation of people with mental disorder or in crisis. We suggest that that there is no urgent need for regulation and plead for a broad, controversial, yet respectful discourse on the many complex existential questions on the topic, which touch upon both professional and personal aspects. © 2022.
