abstract="The article examined the types, nature and dynamics of crimes in the cities of the West Siberian region (Tobolsk and Tomsk provinces), the number of which increased sharply due to revolutionary events and social cataclysm 1905-1907. Publications of Siberian newspapers about popular disorders, strikes, murders and other offenses are involved as a source. The reasons for the growth of crimes, changes in the socio-political situation from "calm" to "tense" have been established. The dissatisfaction of the Syrians with the defeat in the Russo-Japanese war, the execution of the capital's manifestation, unemployment and inflation led to the destruction of the patriarchal way of life and an increase in the criminogenicity of the region. Crime began to affect all spheres of society, offenses that were not characteristic of the region in previous years were developed: Terrorist attacks, rape, assassination attempts and killings of officials, as well as suicide. © 2021, Rossiiskaya Akademiya Nauk, Institut Istorii (Russian Academy of Sciences, Institute of General Hist.
