abstract="This investigation aimed to show the prevalence and its correlates of suicidal behaviour (suicidal ideation and suicide attempts) among adolescents in Paraguay. Cross-sectional nationally representative data were analysed from 3,149 adolescents (15 years median age) that participated in the "2017 Paraguay Global School-Based Student Health Survey (GSHS)." Results show a 13.8% past 12-month prevalence of suicidal ideation and a 11.2% past 12-month prevalence of suicide attempt. In adjusted logistic regression analysis, female sex, loneliness, anxiety, in physical fight, physically attacked, low parental and peer support, serious injury and ever drunk were associated with suicidal ideation (past 12 months). Female sex, bullying victimization, anxiety, loneliness, physically attacked, in physical fight, low parental support, serious injury and ever drunk were associated with suicide attempt (past 12 months). Almost one in seven students had suicidal ideation in the past year and more than one in ten students had made a suicide attempt in the past year and several associated variables were detected which can aid in designing intervention strategies. © 2020, Nova Science Publishers, Inc..
