abstract="OBJECTIVE: To observe the clinical effect of sensory integration therapy on adolescent depression. <br><br>METHOD: Eighty patients with adolescent depression in our hospital from January 2018 to October 2018 were divided into two groups: drug group (n=40) and sensory integrative therapy group (n=40). Patients in the drug group were given the conventional antidepressant Zolofur and the sensory integrative therapy group were treated with sensory integrative therapy on the basis of routine drug therapy for 12 weeks. Hamilton depression scale (HAMD), symptom checklist (SCL-90), self-rating anxiety scale (SAS), insomnia severity index (ISI), Colombian- suicide severity scale (C-SSRS), Richter self-injury scale (RISI) were used respectively. The clinical curative effect was evaluated with the clinical global impression scale-severity of illness (CGI-SI). <br><br>RESULT: After treatment, the HAMD score, SCL-90 score, SAS score, ISI, number of people with positive suicidal ideation in C-SSRS, Richter self-injury scale and CGI-SI score in the drug group and sensory integrative therapy group decreased gradually with the prolongation of treatment times(P<0.05). And the decreases were more in the sensory integrative therapy group than those in the control group (P<0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions in sensory integration therapy Conclusion: Sensory integration therapy significantly improved the clinical symptoms of adolescent depression patients and reduced HAMD score, SCL-90 score, SAS score, ISI, C-SSRS, Richter self-injury scale and CGI-SI score.
