abstract="Death investigation is the hot attraction to public and media, performed for centuries all over the world. Although the aim of a death investigation to determine the cause and manner of death, explaining the death in a public forum is crucial. The dead body is the challenging potential evidence in all death scenes. In suspicious death crime scenes, confusion gripped the mind of investigators in the initial stage of investigation, if it is a suicide or homicide. In this situation, it is important to focus on the physical position, posture and physical evidence in and around the deceased. Very keen crime scene examination is required to ascertain if any evidence of foul play made in the crime scene or body, then confirm the fact with physical evidence-based crime reconstruction, as accepted by the legal system. There are incidents wherein a person was murdered and made the scene as suicide, in particular death by hanging cases. The present report is a real crime scene investigation on a death of a farmer who found dead in his cowshed with legs and hand tied, appearing a homicide crime scene. On thorough examination of the scene and deceased, the forensic crime scene investigator [the author] opined that the farmer committed suicide and fabricated the event as homicide before his death. © 2020, All India Institute of Medical Sciences.
