abstract="OBJECTIVE To investigate characteristics of sexual behaviors among young men who have sex with men (YMSM), and to analyze multiple anal sexual partners as a related- risk factor.

METHODS A questionnaire survey and serological test were conducted in YMSM in Mianyang at the age between 15 and 24 years by snowball sampling method. To analyze multiple anal sexual partner as a related- risk factor, we use χ2 test to implement single- factor analysis and non-conditional Logistic regression for multiple-factor analysis.

RESULTS A total of 362 valid questionnaires were took back. In nearly 6 months, 63.8% of the subjects had anal sex, 7.7% had heterosexual sex partners, 8.8% had male commercial sex partners, 74.7% had fixed sex partners, 53.3% had casual sex partners, and 32.3% had multiple sex partners. And 31.3% were inserted, 41.0% were receptive, and 27.6% were both inserted and receptive in sex roles. Subjects with multiple sexual partners had a higher infection rate (15.4%) than other groups 6.1%(P = 0.004). Multiple Logistic regression analysis showed that having more than 10 community friends, attempting suicide, seeking sex partners in bathhouses, in parks or on the Internet, having casual sex partners, and having fixed sex partners with unsafe anal sex in nearly 6 months were risk factors, while age older than 18 years, and literacy level beyond associated degree were protect factors of having multiple sex partners (P<0.05).

CONCLUSION YMSM have some special sexual behaviors and having multiple sex partners are connected with features of demology, sociology and sexual behavior, as a result correlative behavior intervene should be implemented. © Editorial Office of Chinese Journal of Schistosomiasis Control.
