abstract="This article examines the theme of the abandoned beloved in four texts by Lope de Vega in which the motif combines subtexts of different origin: on the one hand, a conspicuous biographical key, filtered by literature (Belisa's and Filis' attempted suicide); on the other, erudite sources (Dido's suicide). Analyzing these four texts, dating from Lope's youth and de senectute periods, we also suggest how Lope could have come up with the idea of combining these strains inspiring himself in an anonymous romance (La desesperada Dido) that appears to be the source of the famous De pechos sobre una torre. © 2018 CSIC.<p /><p>Language: es</p>",
