abstract="Tricyclic antidepressant poisoning is a potentially lethal condition and treatment can be challenging. ECG findings are the most important risk stratification and should be used to guide subsequent therapy. Sodium bicarbonate is the main treatment along with activated charcoal. When high doses of a tricyclic antidepressant are ingested, the anticholinergic effect may be substantial. © 2016, Netherlands Society of Intensive Care.
