abstract="Choosing to do away with one's life because one is too old, too dependent, too single, is always something dramatic because the over 65s represent 28% of the deaths by suicide of 10,500 deaths identified in 2010 in France. The successful suicide/suicide attempt ratio is close to 1 in more isolated men aged 75 and the means to achieve this are violent and final. However, psychological autopsies show that the suicidals had consulted their doctors in the month before their acting out, without the mental suffering and depression having been detected and treated. This article proposes to lift the taboo of suicide in the elderly and promote both local and national prevention of suicide risk. © 2014 Elsevier Masson SAS.<p /><p>Language: fr</p>",
