abstract="We report three cases of suicidal attempts with lacerations to the throat exposing the hypopharynx and larynx. In two patients, oral endotracheal intubation failed; therefore, the endotracheal tube was positioned through the wound until tracheostomy was performed. The trachea of the third patient was successfully orally intubated. Based on the specifics of these cases, emergency airway management is discussed in situations where conventional algorithms must be applied in a modified form for airway management. © 2014 Springer-Verlag.<p /><p>Language: de</p>",
