abstract="In recent decades, the interest in psychiatric ethics has significantly increased as a result of a number of conditions that have shaped the current framework of psychiatry, namely the change of the psychiatric care framework, anti-psychiatry criticism, controversies surrounding the treatment of mental disorders or unmasked abuses in psychiatry. Depressive syndromes represent a major nosological category due to the high frequency of occurrence, the many forms of manifestation of symptoms and especially because of their social impact. The common denominator of most depressive syndromes is the suicide risk. This is a quasi-constant phenomenon of depressive symptoms and creates a two-way relationship between depression and suicide.
