abstract="This study investigated the utility of standardised assessment of personality abbreviated scale (SAPAS) and the offender assessment system (OASys) personality disorder screen in a sample of 447 probationers being supervised in the community. Comparisons were made between the two measures, their relationship with recidivism risk and other markers of personality dysfunction drawn from probation records. There was limited agreement between the two screens. The SAPAS showed no relationship with recidivism risk and was predicted by suicide/self-harm and difficulties coping. The OASys PD screen demonstrated a strong relationship with risk and was predicted by alcohol problems and problems from childhood. The proportion of offenders meeting the cut-off on both screens is reported. The results suggest the SAPAS should be used in combination with the OASys PD screen in probation, to enhance sensitivity to antisocial cases and incorporate information about risk. © 2012 Copyright Taylor and Francis Group, LLC.<p /><p>Language: en</p>",
