abstract="Pathological jealousy is not defined as a unitary syndrome, but as a symptom of different disorders. There are controversial discussions concerning its differentiation from normal jealousy and its diagnostic status. Despite a lack of epidemiological data, indirect indicators suggest that it is a relatively frequent clinical problem which causes extreme suffering (suicide attempts in 20 % of cases) and considerable risks for the victims (homicide not rare). After reviewing diagnostic issues and the literature on cognitive-behavioural interventions (e.g., cognitive restructuring, couple therapy approach), this paper focuses on new treatment suggestions for a subgroup of sufferers derived from a conceptualisation of pathological jealousy as an obsessive-compulsive spectrum disorder.<p /><p>Language: de</p>",
