abstract="Social workers are often the primary providers of clinical services for clients with mental health diagnoses, including clients who contemplate suicide. While the issue of no suicide contracts has been addressed within the psychology, psychiatry, and nursing literature, a paucity of research on this topic exists within the field of social work. This qualitative study examined the views and beliefs of 25 social workers who have in the past or are currently providing clinical services to suicidal clients. Six themes emerged from the data, highlighting the diverse views that exist about no suicide contracts.
