abstract="Suicide is one of the most important problem of public health in developed countries. Epidemiological results in Switzerland between 1969 and 1995 indicate that all age groups are affected. However, the number of suicides increases mainly in old people, concerning particularly a subgroup over 80 years. Men are more concerned that women. Thanks to the increase of life expectancy and fall of birth rate, the proportion of old people is increasing in all societies, leading also to an increased rate of suicides. Important measures of information and prevention have to be taken and the practitioner has a significant role to play.<p /><p>Language: en</p>",
