abstract="Schizophrenia shows a wide range of influence on the lives of individuals suffering from it, including pervasive worsening of social, cognitive, affective and everyday functioning. The occurrence of depressive syndrome is explained as part of the schizophrenic process, in which depressive symptoms appear with relief of the psychotic symptoms and with getting an insight; then, as usual symptoms manifested by a schizophrenic during the process of decompensation into the repeated psychotic episode; alternatively, the occurrence of a new episode of depression in schizophrenia may represent a transient reaction of disappointment, or, what is more complicated, its chronic variety known as the expression of demoralization due to the prolonged discourage and experience of loss of control over the illness and own life. From the therapeutic standpoint it is of importance that the occurrence of depressiveness may represent "a moment of psychotherapeutic chance", namely that it presents the state more susceptible than others to psychotherapeutic treatment. Concerning the outcome, it has been noted that the depressive conditions are connected with a higher risk of relapse and/or rehospitalization, and with a higher rate of suicide. In any case, the occurrence of depressive syndrome in schizophrenic patients is the reason for an increased level of observation and support. The substance of this work is a survey of different psychotherapeutic approaches that are directly or on the indirectly focused depressive symptoms of schizophrenia. © Medicinska naklada.

Language: en
",
