abstract="To study the mechanical smoke exhausting efficiency from ring corridor of core tube high-rise building under the coupled effect of different mechanical smoke exhaust volume and outdoor wind velocity, experiments were carried out under 11 conditions by using a 1 ∶ 3 scale-down experimental set-up. The optimum mechanical exhaust smoke volume and outdoor wind velocity were obtained by considering smoke layer temperature, smoke layer height, and smoke spread velocity in height of 0. 7 m in the corridor. The experimental results show that when the values of outdoor wind speed are 0, 1 and 2. 5 m / s, the values of mechanical exhaust smoke volume ensuring the safety of people in ring corridor of core tube high-rise building should be 6 000, 8 000 and 14 000 m3 / h respectively. © 2019 China Safety Science Journal.
