abstract="In order to prevent severe casualties caused by natural gas pipeline leakage，influence range of a full bore rupture was studied by utilizing several methods and software. Different models for calculating rupture discharge flow rate were compared and analyzed，full process of gas dispersion after rupture was simulated by Flacs，and flammable gas concentration at ground were analyzed for both vertical and horizontal jet. Finally，distribution of thermal radiation for an 813 mm pipeline was calculated via 3⁃dimensional computational fluid dynamics software Flacs，2⁃dimensional software ALOHA and PHAST as well as a simplified model，and its safe separation distance was determined based on critical standards. The results show that discharge flow rates vary significantly for different models，and safe distance obtained for thermal radiation is longer than 250 m. © 2020 China Safety Science Journal.
