abstract="A case of solution of continuity of the femoral nerve in a footballer caused by direct contusive trauma is reported. Two months after the injury, surgery was rendered necessary in the light of the clinical and EMG picture. Intraperifascicular neurolysis under the operating microscope led to excellent recovery of function, and enabled the patient to return to competitive football [soccer]. Stress is laid on the importance of careful clinical and instrumental evaluation of nerve lesions to ensure their correct diagnosis and observation. Surgical intervention must be undertaken before they become irreversible.<p />",
