abstract="This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of stimulus detection task as performance indices for assessing drivers' mental workload of in-vehicle information systems (IVIS). Participants drove using a driving simulator, performed some attention-demanding subsidiary tasks using IVIS and stimulus detection task in visual, auditory and tactile modalities. The reaction time and the detection error rate varied reflecting the levels of subsidiary tasks, had a difference in stimulus modalities reflecting the sense characteristics of subsidiary tasks and high correlation coefficient with NASA-TLX. These results indicated stimulus detection task had an aptitude for evaluating mental workload of IVIS.<p /><p>Language: ja</p>",
