abstract="The causes, consequences and measures for remediation of child abuse in Nigeria were investigated  The study utilized a child abuse questionnaire with estanlished reliability dn validity indices to elicit responses from 164 subjests who were drawn randomly from various locations in Delta State. Data dollected were analyzed with simple ranking procedures and it was found that poverty of parents as well as death of one or both of the parents were the highest ranked causes of child abuse. Furthermore, rape, educational deprivations, truency, cultism, violence, and stealing behaviours were ranked as the top-most consequences of child abuse in Nigeria.   Among the measures suggested for curbing child abuse in Nigeria were provision of employment for parents, socioeconomic support for orphans, widows and widowers, and abolition of child abuse-prone aspects of Nigerian cultures.<p /> <p>Language: en</p>",
