abstract="Accidents are the primary cause of death in children under the age of 5. Through education and legislation, the state of Arizona has developed a multifaceted approach to decreasing its highest cause of accidental death in small children, backyard pool drownings. The epidemiologic information, available community resources, and programs developed are reviewed in this article.
