abstract="Since many evaluation elements are involved in FMEA (Failure Modes and Effect Analysis), and the concepts of which are fuzzy, a fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method is applied to improve FMEA in this study. As a case study, a survey on water jet hydraulic system of a high speed ro-ro ship is conducted and then the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model is developed to analyze the whole system. The result shows that FMEA combined with fuzzy comprehensive evaluation is suitable for safety assessment of high speed ro-ro ship.<p />",
