abstract="According to the investigation of traffic accidents, simulation test and safety lateral clearance measurement of freeway, authors analyzed the median type of freeway, and put forward the reasonable median types. Based on the software ADAMS, the models of three-dimensional vehicle, three-dimensional corrugated beam barrier and curb were built. Collision simulation experiments of different collision angle and velocity were done. The results show that there are linear relation between safety lateral clearance of median type and running velocity, and also safety lateral clearance has relation with main types of vehicle; design velocity is smaller than 60 km - h(sup-scr)-1 when medians outside barrier with curb are used in the freeway and it is unsuited for freeway to set heaved curb.<p />",
