abstract="The aim of this study was to explore the profile of Indian gangs in Malaysia. This study utilised a non-experimental research design. It is a qualitative research that made use of the inductive approach. Ten ex-gangsters were interviewed and their experiences of gangsterism were used to study the profile of Indian gangs. Semi-structured, face-to-face individual interview was used as a research instrument in this study. The thematic analysis generated three themes from the raw transcripts: (1) basic information about the Indian gangs, (2) identification markers of the Indian gangs, and (3) structure and member recruitment of the Indian gangs. The outcome of this explorative research provides insight to the growing body of knowledge on gangsterism in Malaysia and is useful for community leaders and law enforcement agencies to strategise appropriate intervention, prevention, and suppression efforts to combat gangsterism.<p /> <p>Language: en</p>",
