abstract="This paper examines the issue of the assessment and evaluation of traffic calming within residential areas. It is argued that, although the concept of traffic calming has been increasingly grasped and practical experiments and improvements are being implemented, comprehensive evaluation that identifies the success of projects has not been undertaken on an appropriate and systematic basis. The study puts forward a new evaluation approach which is based on the multi-objective nature of residential traffic calming. A case-study was selected and part of the new model applied. Although further research and modifications may be needed, the model has given the evaluator an enhanced and comprehensive evaluation framework that assesses both quantitative and qualitative data. <p>Language: en</p>",
