abstract="It is proposed to write a &quot;Designer's Handbook on Road Junctions&quot; that will serve as a unified source of information on what is known about capacity and safety. The Handbook will summarize key basic principles relevant to safety and capacity, give application guidelines and present a variety of worked examples that illustrate the effects of alternative designs of junctions. Extensive use will be made of the latest versions of the computer programs into which research results are incorporated but, before they are finalized, the worked examples will be reviewed with experienced traffic engineers in a series of Workshops.<p />",
