abstract="In an urban environment, drivers have to yield to many other road users. This is still a difficult challenge for autonomous vehicles and could be facilitated by reducing the number of permissive turnings at signalised intersections. If autonomous vehicles were segregated at a presignal, they could be given exclusive protected movements. Other traffic streams could still be signalled permis-sively. An analytical model has been developed here based on the constraints of this intersection operation mode in order to estimate its capacity given a specific set of circumstances (the configuration of the traffic signal program and layout of the infrastructure). The model is used to maximise capacity depending on the position of the presignal.<p /> <p>Language: en</p>",
