abstract="OBJECTIVE To understand the epidemic characteristics of suicidal behavior among the widowed in Kunming city,so as to provide the basis for the intervention of suicidal behavior. <br><br>METHODS Data on widowed death were obtained from resident death report registration system of Kunming city in 2013.Self-designed questionnaire was used to collect the information. <br><br>RESULTS In a total of 91 cases of suicide death among the widowed, there were no significant differences between men and women (P >0.05). Most were those over 65, rural, Han, unemployed/unemployment, farmers, and illiterate, accounting for 50.55%, 89.01%, 79.12%, 79.12%, and 69.23% respectively (P <0.05). 42(46.12%) committed suicide due to diseases and 24(26.37%) due to family disputes. <br><br>CONCLUSION Psychological health education should be carried out through various forms and channels,to focus on those over 65, rural, Han,unemployed/unemployment,farmers,and illiterate, it may have a more ideal effect in reducing the suicide occurrence among the widowed.
