abstract="Motor vehicle deaths are in a decreasing trend in Korea, but the nation is still ranked worst among OECD member countries. This ranking indicates Korean government-level efforts are less efficient compared to those of other advanced nations. Traffic accidents vary in type and cause according to social changes, and Korea needs to attempt a significant accident reduction considering such phenomena as an aging society and IT era. Focusing on the elderly driver accidents, this study analyzes the influences of driving circumstances, such as road environment, regional characteristics, and alcohol intake on the accident severity. Analytical findings suggest elderly drivers' accident risks differs by age, region, injury type, alcohol level, and road turns. In the face of the aging society, these findings can assist in developing traffic safety policies and facilities customized for elderly drivers.<p /> <p>Language: ko</p>",
