abstract="To ensure safety on platforms, we must consider human factors such as the behavior and psychology of passengers who use the stations as well as that of station staff and train crews. In addition to this, safety measures must be based on a multifaceted perspective, taking into account a variety of scenarios including people bumping into train cars are falling down on platforms, as well as passenger movement on platforms and the conditions during train boarding and alighting. Based on these perspectives the Safety Research Institute at West Japan Railway Company is engaged in research aiming to improve safety on train platforms. Of the areas of research being carried out by the Institute, this paper focuses on measures for addressing the issues of drunken passengers and people texting while walking.<p /> <p>Language: ja</p>",
