abstract="The parenting needs of mothers who are survivors of child sexual abuse (CSA) remain relatively unexamined in the research literature. Existing parenting programmes are usually aimed at assisting mothers in addressing the needs of their children, and it is not necessarily focused on addressing mothers' specific needs. Previous studies have suggested that mothers with a history of child sexual abuse have specific parenting challenges as a result of their child sexual abuse trauma. Given the long term effects of child sexual abuse on mothers' overall functioning, including their parenting, those with a history of child sexual abuse also have specific parenting needs. The aim of this qualitative study was therefore to explore and describe the parenting needs of mothers who are survivors of CSA. <br><br>FINDINGS suggested that mothers with a history of CSA have specific parental needs for support and guidance.<p /> <p>Language: en</p>",
