abstract="Injury severity data for motorcycle crashes in North Carolina are analyzed using the partial proportional odds model. Single-vehicle, single-rider data from the Highway Safety Information Systems (HSIS) are used in the analysis which aims to identify effective countermeasures.

FINDINGS indicate that in North Carolina, older motorcycle riders, DUI riders, speeders, reckless riders, and non-helmeted riders are more likely to have increased injury severity and safety education programs should focus on those groups. Agencies can use the methodology outlined as a cost effective way to set priorities for resource allocation.

Language: en
",
