abstract="This paper describes the University of Kentucky's program in developmental and behavioral disorders, which prepares prospective teachers to work with students who have moderate to severe developmental disabilities and severe behavioral disorders. The program is competency based, with specific objectives in three primary areas: (a) to prepare personnel to work in diverse settings with persons who exhibit developmental and behavioral disorders, (b) to prepare personnel to provide consultation and inservice training related to serving persons with developmental and behavioral disorders, and (c) to prepare personnel to analyze and conduct applied research with persons who exhibit developmental and behavioral disorders. <br><br>DISCUSSION focuses on the program's organization, coursework, practicum placements, emphasis on research skills, and available evaluative data.<p />",
