abstract="Albania has struggled with the issue of human trafficking as a country of origin and transit since the fall of communism in 1991. Poverty, social instability, gender issues, corruption, geography, and unique historical events have contributed. Under pressure and with help from Albanian and international organizations, the nation has made some progress in addressing trafficking. Faith-based organizations have more recently made contributions in the areas of prevention, prosecution, and reintegration. These activities reflect an important spirit of partnership with other groups within Albania.<p /><p>Language: en</p>",
