abstract="Test data are reviewed to attempt to correlate relationship of visual acuity and the ability to detect low-contrast differences at night. The best combination from the standpoint of nighttime driving safety is excellent acuity plus excellent ability to detect low-contrast differences at night. The author contends that the latter is the more important. It is concluded that more data are needed.<p />",
