abstract="Aims and Objectives: to find predictors of suicidal risk among neglected teenagers; to estimate suicidal tendencies among NT; to estimate frequency of comorbid disorders among NT. Methods: 74 NT from full-time schools and hostels of Ukraine were examined. Clinico-psychological method and questionnaires "Personal Anxiety Scale" Prihogan A.M. 2000, "Depriscop" Podolsky A., Idobaeva O., Heimans P. 2004 were used. Results: The prevalence and intensity of conscious suicidal thoughts among NT were strongly marked during the last 3 months of life. Thoughts about death and unwillingness to live as a symptom influenced by depression were found in over 58% of teenagers. Among them 8% experienced suicidal thoughts every day during 3 months before the examination. 25% experienced suicidal thoughts 10-80 times a day during last 3 months. Comorbid disorders were found among NT: 60% had substance abuse disorders with various intensity that were represented by the use of toxic substances and alcohol. More than 90% teenagers had clinical implications of nicotine dependence. These disorders are traditionally treated as auto destructive. Over 45% suffered anxiety disorders of high intensity that can be relevant to clinical forms. Over 40% suffered high intensity depression that can be relevant to clinical forms. Conclusion: Neglected teenagers belong to the high suicidal risk group. There is high comorbidity with substance abuse, anxiety and depressive disorders. We developed a suicide prevention programme for this group of teenagers.

Language: en
",
