abstract="This qualitative study aims to understand, from the standpoint of several partners (emergency departments of general hospitals, crisis centres, psychosocial service organizations, detoxification centres and suicide prevention centres), the facilitators and barriers to implementation of a follow-up protocol for persons at high risk of suicide. This protocol consists of a formal agreement to exchange information about suicidal individuals to accelerate their follow-up and assure better continuity of care. Group interviews were conducted with the 15 partners, where the protocol had been implemented for 5 years. Results indicate that successful implementation depends mainly on the capacity of project leaders from each organization to mobilize colleagues and managers, as well as on the quality of the emergency department's participation. Staff movement and lack of confidence among partners are factors that impede the success of the protocol implementation.<p /> <p>Language: en</p>",
