abstract="In this study, eight years (2004-2011) of wrong-way driving (WWD) fatal crash data were extracted from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Fatality Analysis Reporting System database. The objectives of this study are to (1) provide an overview of the general trend of WWD fatal crashes in the United States; (2) discuss general characteristics of WWD fatal crashes; and (3) delineate significant contributing factors (e.g., crash location, driver gender, age, and impairment). The results will serve to inform national and state efforts to reduce WWD fatal crashes. Copyright 2014, Institute of Transportation Engineers.<p /> <p>Language: en</p>",
